Beginning April 1, 2026, our session rate will increase by $5 per session.

At Avery Therapy Centre, we periodically review our fees to ensure we can continue offering high-quality, sustainable care while supporting the ongoing growth and development of our clinical team. This adjustment allows us to maintain the level of service, training, and clinical excellence our clients value and expect.

Low Cost Counselling

These services are provided by our intern counsellors who are in the process of completing their master's degrees in counselling. At this point in their training, they have the necessary skills to support you with your goals using evidence-based approaches. These services are provided by our intern counsellors who are in the process of completing their master's degrees in counselling. At this point in their training, they have the necessary skills to support you with your goals using evidence-based approaches. The interns selected to work with at centre has to demonstrate a high level of empathy, compassion, and respect. Our interns are typically with the centre for about 6-10 months and they are supervised by a seasoned, PhD level therapist. The rate for low cost counselling is $52.50 (including GST).

In my therapeutic approach, I am keen to listen and learn from a genuine, compassionate, non-judgmental and culturally curious lens. As each of us comes from unique experiences, I feel that it is important that we feel heard and can express ourselves openly and collaboratively. This person-centred approach resonates with me, along with a strength-based emphasis on supporting one through life’s changes and challenges.

Other theories I draw from are Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Existentialism, and Gestalt perspectives. Within these theories, having a trauma-informed practice with a culturally sensitive, and social justice framework is very important to me. I plan to incorporate cognitive-behavioural, somatic, mindfulness-based and emotion-focused approaches in providing counselling interventions and remain curious to facilitate an empowering space for those to grow and express themselves.
